My catalyst moment in business happened because in January 2014 while writing my third book about ‘how to self-publish’, I decided to publish it through my own company and created a publisher imprint to my LLC. December 2013 had ended with me being physically sick with a respiratory ailment that I hadn’t had in four years. Not being 100% committed to myself or my business, straddling the fence of faith with too much going on at once that was not dedicated to building my vision and the need to de-clutter my space manifested into and old recurring illness that incapacitated me to the point I could not honor a short term work assignment I had committed to. On New Year’s Day, January 1, 2014, I tuned into the 24 Hours of Motivation live stream event, hosted by Che Brown, Trevor Otts and the Les Brown Platinum Speakers Network, and was inspired to the actions of saying no, decreasing my commitments, completing my self-publishing book and starting 'Inspired 4 U Publications' using my knowledge, creative gifts and skills. I considered the praise I’ve received from people I’ve helped with their books and the real need that is present for my services and ability to deliver. Although reluctant in the beginning, I was glad for the push to assist and my gift to help them express and represent themselves more clearly, authentically and professionally. I now recognize and embrace my ability and passion to educate, encourage and empower others to write and publish their stories, messages, and collections.
My darkness to light moment was in ending one year sick, relearning an old lesson on a deeper level to starting my publishing company and publishing four of my own books & one for a client in spite of my mom having a stroke that shifted my life in the following year. #BrandStoryChallenge #Day2 |
